Adobe Flash Player is now sandboxed in the latest dev channel release of Google Chrome, bringing a huge security benefit to Chrome users.

Since this past March, we’ve been working closely with Adobe to allow Flash Player to take advantage of new sandboxing technology in Chrome, extending the work we’ve already done with sandboxing for HTML rendering and JavaScript execution.

This week, we’re excited to roll out the initial Flash Player sandbox for our dev channel users on Windows XP, Vista and 7.

This initial Flash Player sandbox is an important milestone in making Chrome even safer. In particular, users of Windows XP will see a major security benefit, as Chrome is currently the only browser on the XP platform that runs Flash Player in a sandbox.

This first iteration of Chrome’s Flash Player sandbox for all Windows platforms uses a modified version of Chrome’s existing sandbox technology that protects certain sensitive resources from being accessed by malicious code, while allowing applications to use less sensitive ones.

This implementation is a significant first step in further reducing the potential attack surface of the browser and protecting users against common malware.

While we’ve laid a tremendous amount of groundwork in this initial sandbox, there’s still more work to be done. We’re working to improve protection against additional attack vectors, and will be using this initial effort to provide fully sandboxed implementations of the Flash Player on all platforms.

We’ll be posting updates as we continue working with Adobe to add new security improvements to the Flash Player sandbox. For those of you on the dev channel for Windows, you’ll be automatically updated soon, and we look forward to your feedback as you test it out. If you prefer to disable this initial sandbox in your Chrome dev experience, add –disable-flash-sandbox to the command line.

I’m writing a post where I will tell you what, exactly, the hacker did and how we solved this issue. I know that this is not a web-browser’s stuff but when we had been hacked I searched on Google how to avoid the problem but I found nothing so I want to tell you all the story.

Nine years ago al-Qaeda’s hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others.

The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights.

There’s no words to express what we feel when we think to that day. 2,996 people were killed from terrorists.

Today Google has a lot of useful services and tools. But in the beginning it was just a search engine; the best one.

When Sergey Brin and Larry Pag start programming their search engine there wasn’t anything similar. Of course there were other search engines but they were very approximatively in the results.

Google’ creators improved the result page, they made is creating a sort of database of all the websites on the Web and with some other algorithms to see which were the most relevant results to show.

Already in May, Mozilla announced that they are working to launch a Firefox browser for Apple’s iPhone. But since the Apple’s software development kit prohibits a competitive browser, Mozilla couldn’t have come up with a complete browser to replace Safari.

So they thought to come up with an App that enables the users to fetch their Firefox data from other devices on their iPhone, using Firefox Sync. (Firefox Sync, previously known as Weave Sync, syncs users data – open tabs, history, saved passwords, bookmarks, securely on a cloud which can be later accessed or downloaded by the user using the same application.)

This way while using your iPhone, you won’t miss the tabs open on your Office computer(running firefox) or the bookmarks on your Home computer. Ofcourse, to see the best results you will need to install the Firefox Sync addon on all your firefox installations.

Mozilla submitted Firefox Home to Apple’s app store the 1st July. No one knows how much time Apple will take to accept or reject it, could be days, weeks, months. Browserland will keep you updated with the result.

There’s a lot of news in this version. It includes a redesign of the user interface (tabs are now on top like in Google Chrome), enhanced HTML5 support, hardware-accelerated HD video, WebSockets and enhanced add-on support via Jetpack.

Mozilla needs to bring his browser to the top again and this new version could either reverse the downtrend or accelerate its fall.

I’m a Firefox Fan and I just downloaded Firefox 4 Beta. Maybe it will crash, sometimes, but I think it’s the most powerfull browser in the world.
