Many web-based music services are raising lately, and we all have used them at least once, specially when away from home, or can access our music library. One of the coolest one though, and maybe one of the first ones to be born, is Pandora. Unfortunately this amazing service is currently available only in the US, leaving everyone else without this fantastic resource.

As a matter of fact, using Pandora through the HTTPS protocol bypasses this limitation, allowing everyone to access the service, no matter where located. The trick is simply to use a software that forces the web-browser to utilize a secure HTTP session any time that this is available.

The extension is called HTTPS Everywhere: it is available for both Chrome and Firefox and, after installed, it works seamlessly testing if the website you are currently visiting allows HTTPS sessions and, for Pandora, this works.

There’s nothing more to explain as this is one of the simplest extension for the end user…we just hope that Pandora doesn’t fix this, or at least keeps granting us with a secure session from everywhere we are.

Today I want to share with you a great web site that will allow you to watch your favorite TV channel directly from your web browser. Impossibile? Not at all, it’s just a few clicks away! Just let me guide you to the place and you will be watching all of your TV shows right away.

Here’s how:

Just open up your browser and head to ChooseAndWatch.com

The upper menu bar lets you group channels by category or country: then, after you choose, you will see a list of all the available channels in the left sidebar, each one with an icon next to it. This icon will tell you which plugin is necessary in order to watch that stream: right now content is available in Flash, Media Player, Real Player and Quick Time.

The other buttons on the menu bar let you watch TV from you mobile device, stream movies, and watch adult TV (for which you need to be 18+).

It is very simple to do this, and the best part is that it is absolutely free to use and there is no software to install more than your web browser and the streaming plugins required from the channel itself.

Any doubt just drop us a comment and we will get back to you!

If you are tired to see how your computer starts to slow down after you’ve been using Firefox for a while, I’m going to teach you how to reduce the amount of memory that Firefox is allowed to use for caching.

You can also set Firefox to ensure that when you minimize it, Firefox will move to your hard drive, and as a result it will take up less than 10MB of memory while minimized.

Photo Credit: Marin Myftiu – Edited By Nicolo’ Canali De Rossi

Here’s how you do it:

Go to the address bar on your Firefox browser and write about:config

Search “browser.cache and select browser.cache.disk.capacity” in the filter.

Try to set 20000 if you have between 512Mb and 1GB of Ram. If you have less than 512Mb then reduce to 10000. (By default it’s usually set to 50000. This value could be lowered depending on how much ram you have.)

To reduce your Ram consumption when Firefox is minimized, by simply sending Firefox back to the hard disk, just type about:config in the address bar: right click anywhere and select New>>Boolean. Name it config.trim_on_minimize and set it’s value to TRUE.

Restart Firefox.

Now your Firefox will be faster and will consume less RAM than before.

I just want to share with you a new extension I found bouncing around on the net, that will allows you to batch download sets of Facebook photos with one single click!

You could simply click on every single photo and download it, but when they become more than 20, the job starts to get boring.

FacePAD is a Firefox extensions that makes this effort easier because, letting you grab all the photos from any Facebook album in a single move.

Better known as the Facebook Photo Album Downloader, FacePAD will not only let you grab your own photo album, but will also let you download your friends’ photo album, event albums, and group albums with the click of a button.

Here is the video:

Here are listed some of the functionality shown in the video:

To download photos from a friend’s photo album, just right-click on the name/link of a Facebook album and select “Download Album with FacePAD option”. If you did this properly, a JavaScript pop-up will appear, one for each page of pictures you are going to download, and the download process will begin in instants.

Instead, to download an Events Album or Groups Album, the user must right-click on the “See All” link on the main page of the group or event of interest.

FacePAD has also a Facebook’s fan page

You can read more on this extension and download it at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8442

A few days ago I read a very good article on LifeHacker.com and I thought that it would have been useful for you too.

I just upgraded to version 3.0b of Firefox but many of my favorite extensions are disabled, with no way of getting them to work.

Editors at LifeHacker have found a great trick in order to set Firefox to ignore compatibility, and let it run any extension even if designed for other versions.

So here is explained how to run Firefox 2.0 add-ons in version 3.0b:

Only do this if you’re willing to deal with possible bleeding edge extension bugs and security risks!

Type about:config into Firefox’s address bar and click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button.

Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean. Make the name of your new config value extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false.

Make another new boolean pair called extensions.checkUpdateSecurity and set the value to false.

Restart Firefox.

Now any extension that isn’t yet officially Firefox 3 Beta compatible and doesn’t have secure updates (like Better Gmail and friends) will be enabled.

Final warning: These changes may lead to unexpected wacky behavior. Proceed at your own risk!

Are you someone who works a lot with tabs and needs to open millions of sites rapidly, without even losing a second typing a URL into the address bar?

Photo Credit: Andre Veron – Edited by Nicolo’ Canali De Rossi

With this little trick, I am going to show how to assign a keyword shortcut to your Firefox bookmarks, so that you will have to type just one word instead of a long text and slashes.

Here’s what to do:

Click on Bookmarks, choose the site you want to add a keyword to, right click on it and select properties.

Think of a word that you will easily remember for that site and type it in the Keyword box and click OK.

From now on, everytime you want to open that particular site, you will just have to type its corresponding keyword into the address bar, click Enter, and there you go: the keyword will be replaced by the site’s URL, and you will automatically be redirected to it.

When you are working with your browser and you are in a hurry or, just like me, don’t like doing things slow, shortcuts are way better than the mouse.

Today I decided to write, or at least to begin writing, a growing keyboard shortcuts list for Firefox.

If you want to get one added, just leave a comment below this article, and I will add it as soon as possible.
